Terms of Use

Last updated: November 1, 2026 (version 2026-11-01)

1. Purpose

These Terms of Use govern access to and use of Cosmo, a web platform for managing tasks, habits, objectives (OKRs) and a calendar.

By creating an account or using Cosmo, you accept these Terms of Use in full. If you do not accept them, you must not use the application.

Cosmo is published by Axel Longatte, sole proprietor (entrepreneur individuel, EI) trading as COSMO, registered with the French National Business Register under SIREN 131 769 317, with a registered address at 138 avenue Victor Hugo, 75116 Paris, France, who can be reached at contact@thecosmo.app or on +33 7 54 36 29 17. VAT not applicable, article 293 B of the French General Tax Code. In these terms, “Cosmo” refers both to the service and to its publisher. Full contact details are given in the site's legal notice.

2. Access to the service

Cosmo can be accessed:

  • In demo mode, with sample data and no sign-up
  • In standard mode (free), after creating an account
  • In the business workspace, with a free plan and, once this offer is open for subscription, paid plans. It is not open today: the business workspace is entirely free

Signing up requires a valid email address and a password. You are responsible for keeping your credentials confidential.

3. User account

Each user may hold only one account. You undertake to provide accurate information when signing up and to keep it up to date.

In the event of a serious breach of these Terms of Use, in particular unlawful use or an attack on the security of the service, Cosmo may suspend or delete an account. Except in an emergency or where the law requires otherwise, you are informed beforehand by email, with the reason for the decision, and you may challenge it by replying to that message. Before a deletion, you can retrieve your data, unless the law prevents it.

Cosmo is intended for people aged at least 15. Below that age, it may only be used with the consent of a holder of parental authority.

4. Acceptable use

When using Cosmo, you undertake not to:

  • Use the application for unlawful or fraudulent purposes
  • Attempt to compromise the security of the application or of its servers
  • Extract, copy or redistribute the content of the application without authorisation
  • Create several accounts in order to circumvent restrictions
  • Share your account with other people (outside the collaboration features provided)
  • Use bots or automated scripts to interact with the application

4a. Reporting illegal content

If you come across content on Cosmo that you consider illegal, for example in a task or a comment shared with you, report it to contact@thecosmo.app, stating: why you consider it illegal, exactly where it is (name of the task, project or organisation), your name and email address, and a statement confirming that your report is made in good faith.

We acknowledge receipt of the report, review it diligently and objectively, and tell you what we decided. If we restrict content or an account, the person concerned receives the reasons for that decision and may challenge it by replying to the message notifying them.

The single point of contact provided for in Articles 11 and 12 of Regulation (EU) 2022/2065 on digital services, for authorities and users alike, is contact@thecosmo.app, in French or English.

5. Paid subscription (terms of sale)

Cosmo's enterprise workspace comes in several plans, including a free plan. Paid plans differ by the number of members allowed in the organization. Current prices are shown in the app and on the presentation page. Articles 5 to 5 ter are Cosmo's terms of sale.

  • All prices include all taxes: the amount shown is the amount charged. VAT not applicable, article 293 B of the French tax code, for as long as Cosmo is under the VAT franchise scheme
  • Payments are processed securely by Stripe. Cosmo never has access to your bank details
  • The subscription is taken out by the organization's owner, for the whole organization. Before paying, the owner expressly requests immediate access to the service (article 5 bis) and accepts the current version of these terms, whose date appears at the top. Cosmo keeps the version accepted by each customer
  • Term. The monthly subscription has no commitment and can be cancelled at any time. The yearly subscription is entered into for one year and renewed automatically at each term. A receipt is emailed to you with every charge, with a link to manage or cancel the subscription
  • Reminder before renewal. For a yearly subscription, Cosmo sends you a dedicated email about 45 days before the term, and no later than one month before, stating the renewal date, its amount and your right not to renew by cancelling from the Billing page until the day before that date (French consumer code, article L215-1). If this reminder was not sent to you, you may cancel free of charge at any time from the renewal onwards, and the share of the remaining period is refunded within 30 days
  • Cancellation. You can cancel at any time, in a few clicks, from the Billing page of your enterprise workspace: the "Cancel my subscription" button, then a single confirmation. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the period already paid; access continues until then and no refund is made. An email confirms the cancellation and the end-of-access date. You can undo it as long as the period has not ended
  • No refund after the withdrawal period, on either a monthly or a yearly subscription, except in the cases required by law, which these terms do not exclude: lack of conformity of the service (article 9), renewal reminder not sent (above), and a change to the contract or the price (article 11). Such requests go to contact@thecosmo.app
  • If your subscription stops being active, your organization goes back to the free plan. No member is ever removed: only the ability to add new ones is suspended

5 bis. Right of withdrawal

If you subscribe as a consumer, or as a business with five employees or fewer for a contract outside the scope of your main activity (French consumer code, article L221-3), you have fourteen days from the conclusion of the contract, that is the first paid subscription, to withdraw without giving any reason and without paying any penalty. An automatic renewal does not open a new period.

Immediate access and pro rata. The service starts as soon as you pay, at your express request: before paying, you tick the box "I request immediate access to the service and acknowledge that if I withdraw, the period already used will be charged pro rata". This request is confirmed to you by email together with the order confirmation. If you withdraw, you pay for the service provided up to and including the day of withdrawal, and the rest is refunded: amount paid × remaining days ÷ days in the period, rounded down to the cent (article L221-25). Without this express request, the refund is in full. No withdrawal fee is ever charged.

How to withdraw. During the fourteen days, the Billing page of your enterprise workspace shows the "Withdraw from the contract here" button. It opens a pre-filled summary (name, email, subscription, amount refunded), which you validate with the "Confirm withdrawal" button. An acknowledgement is emailed to you right away, with the date and time of withdrawal. Any other unambiguous statement is also accepted, in particular by email to contact@thecosmo.app or by post to the address given in article 1, for example using the form below.

Effects. Withdrawal ends the subscription immediately. The refund is made no later than fourteen days after the date of withdrawal, using the same payment method as the one used for the subscription, at no cost to you.

Model withdrawal form (annex to article R221-1 of the French consumer code; complete and return this form only if you wish to withdraw from the contract): "To Axel Longatte, EI, trading as COSMO, 138 avenue Victor Hugo, 75116 Paris, France, contact@thecosmo.app: I/We (*) hereby give notice that I/We (*) withdraw from my/our (*) contract for the provision of the following service: COSMO Enterprise subscription. Ordered on (*): [date]. Name of consumer(s): [name]. Address of consumer(s): [address]. Signature of consumer(s) (only if this form is notified on paper). Date: [date]. (*) Delete as appropriate."

5 ter. Business customers

This article applies to customers acting for purposes within their trade or profession, other than the business with five employees or fewer referred to in article 5 bis. By subscribing, the customer declares that it is acting in a professional capacity and states the size of its workforce.

Business customers have no right of withdrawal. No refund, even partial, is owed, unless Cosmo has failed to meet its obligations. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the paid period. The yearly subscription commits the customer for twelve months and renews automatically for the same term unless cancelled before the renewal date; the reminder sent about 45 days before that date is also sent to business customers.

Cosmo's liability towards a business customer is limited as set out in article 9.

6. Ownership of your data

The data you create in Cosmo (tasks, habits, objectives, events) belongs to you. Cosmo accesses it only in order to provide the service.

You can ask for your data to be exported or deleted at any time, from the settings or by contacting contact@thecosmo.app.

Business workspace. When an organisation uses the business workspace, it decides why and how its members' data is processed there (tasks, projects, comments, activity statistics): it is the controller, and Cosmo acts on its behalf as a processor within the meaning of Article 28 GDPR. In that capacity, Cosmo: processes this data only to provide the service, on the instructions the organisation gives by using it; ensures that the people who access it are bound by confidentiality; applies the security measures described in the privacy policy; uses only the sub-processors listed there and informs the organisation of any change, which it may refuse by terminating; helps it respond to requests to exercise rights and meet its security obligations; notifies it of any personal data breach affecting it without undue delay; deletes this data at the end of the service, after allowing it to be exported; and provides the information needed to demonstrate compliance with these obligations, including during a reasonable audit. The organisation remains responsible for informing its members, and where applicable their representatives, of how it uses this data.

Switching service. You can export your data at any time and free of charge (Settings, My data tab), in an open format (CSV), to take it to another service. Do so before deleting your account: deletion is permanent.

7. Intellectual property

The Cosmo application, its source code, design, trademarks and logos belong to its publisher. Any unauthorised reproduction or use is prohibited, subject to the licences of the open source components the application relies on.

8. Availability of the service

Cosmo endeavours to keep the service available as much as possible. Interruptions may nonetheless occur for maintenance or in cases of force majeure. Cosmo then endeavours to keep them short and, where they can be foreseen, to tell you in advance.

9. Limitation of liability

Cosmo has an obligation of means. It is not liable for damage resulting from use of the service that does not comply with these terms, from force majeure, or from the unforeseeable and insurmountable act of a third party unconnected with the supply of the service.

Towards a business user, and except in cases of gross negligence or wilful misconduct, Cosmo's liability is limited to direct damage and to the amounts paid over the last 12 months.

Towards a consumer, no clause in these terms limits or excludes Cosmo's liability beyond what the law allows, and the statutory guarantee of conformity and the guarantee against hidden defects remain owed in all circumstances.

Legal guarantee of conformity for digital content and services. If you are a consumer, the service must conform to the contract throughout the period it is supplied (French consumer code, articles L224-25-12 et seq.). In the event of a lack of conformity, in particular unavailability or failure to match what was promised, you can have it brought into conformity or, failing that, obtain a price reduction or the termination of the contract, with a pro rata refund for the period during which the service did not conform. This right is free of charge and is exercised by writing to contact@thecosmo.app. No provision of these terms excludes or limits it.

10. Termination

You can delete your account at any time from the app settings. Deletion permanently erases all your data within 90 days. Deleting a subscribed organization ends its subscription immediately, with no refund; during the withdrawal period, please use the withdrawal button instead (article 5 bis).

Cosmo may terminate your access in the event of a breach of these Terms of Use, after notice by email except in an emergency.

11. Changes to these Terms

Cosmo may update these terms, in particular to follow changes to the service or the law. Any substantial change, and any change to the price of a subscription, is notified to you by email at least one month before it takes effect. Purely formal changes take effect on publication. The date and version of the latest update appear at the top of this document.

If you refuse a change, you can cancel your subscription, and delete your account, free of charge at any time before it takes effect, after exporting your data. The period already paid is not refunded. Otherwise, the change applies from that date.

12. Governing law and jurisdiction

These Terms of Use are governed by French law.

If you are a consumer, you keep the right to bring proceedings before the courts of the place where you live, and nothing in these Terms takes that right away from you.

For disputes between Cosmo and a business, and after an attempt at amicable settlement, the courts of Paris have jurisdiction, to the extent permitted by law.

12 bis. Disputes and consumer mediation

In the event of a dispute between the Customer and the company, both will try to settle it amicably (the Customer sends a written complaint to the business at contact@thecosmo.app).

If no amicable agreement is reached, or if the business does not reply within a reasonable period of one (1) month, a Customer who is a consumer within the meaning of Article L.612-2 of the French Consumer Code may, if a disagreement remains, refer the matter free of charge to the competent mediator listed by the Commission d'évaluation et de contrôle de la médiation de la consommation under Article L.615-1 of the French Consumer Code, namely:

Société Médiation Professionnelle, www.mediateur-consommation-smp.fr, Alteritae, 5 rue Salvaing, 12000 Rodez, France.

13. Language of the contract

This document is available in French and in English. If the two versions differ, the French version prevails: it is the original version, and French law governs the contract.
